A comprehensive pre-operative examination including Pentacam topography, pachymetry (corneal thickness measurement), and tear film analysis is mandatory to confirm candidacy.

If you are not suitable for SMILE Pro, alternative options such as PRK surface laser, LASIK, or implantable collamer lenses (ICL) may be considered depending on your specific ocular anatomy.

How quickly can I return to sport and normal activities after SMILE Pro?

SMILE Pro has the fastest return-to-activity profile of any laser procedure. Most patients are back to light desk work within 24–48 hours. Outdoor exercise such as running or cycling can usually be resumed within 5 days, provided the eyes are protected from dust and wind.

Contact sports, swimming in pools or open water, and activities risking direct eye impact should be avoided for a minimum of 4 weeks, as advised by your surgeon. Because there is no corneal flap, the structural risk during recovery is lower than LASIK, but proper healing protocols must still be followed.

Will SMILE Pro results last permanently?
